Chapter Book

Design &Formatting

My father decided he wanted to write his autobiography. Which, I think is a cool project. He asked me to format the book and design the cover. Thanks to my experience formatting the cookbook this chapter book was a breeze, espcially with Adobe InDesign doing all the heavy lifting.

The cover was designed with Adobe Illustrator. The book was formatted with Adobe InDesign and printed by Barnes & Noble.

Redesign & Formatting

When my grandmother passed away in the early 2000s, my dad decided to make a family cookbook. The cookbook was to honor her legacy and help keep track of recipes the family used. It has been almost two decades since the second edition of the cookbook was released. I recognized we needed a new cookbook. The family found new recipes we loved, and a significant portion of the family has been diagnosed with Celiac Disease.

By changing the format of the cookbook, we were able to double the recipes found on a page. This new cookbook also had a new gluten-free section added. I also snuck in a page of family photos at the back.

Overall, this was one of the most rewarding projects I made this last year. The cookbook was created with Adobe InDesign. The Mockups were created using Adobe Photoshop. The cookbooks were printed by OfficeMax.

Here’s the second eddition cookbook for your refrence.

Baby Shower

Invite & Poster Design

I had the opportunity to host a baby shower for one of my best friends. She loves sunflowers, and I decided to make that the theme for the shower. The first step was to create an invite. I wanted to keep it neutral colors, and the the main focus would be the sunflowers. My friend took some cute maternity photos, and I wanted to include that on the invite with the gender of the baby.

I also created a welcome sign and bathroom sign with the same motif. This helped keep everything consistent but also provide direction.

Everything was created with Adobe Illustrator.

Large Scale Design

I spent three years working in the convention industry as a graphic layout specialist. If you would like to know more about graphic layout click here. I thought creating my fake convention would be a great way to showcase my skills and some of the items I worked on every day.

To design for a convention, there must be a design that could be used on items of various sizes and material. Some of the items include signage, back walls, and registration desks. Knowing the standard sizes helps tremendously when creating designs. Luckily, I had most of these memorized.

The designs were created using Adobe Illustrator. The mock-ups were created using Adobe Dimension.

Product Re-Design

Zoltar machines are iconic. They are so fun and can provide a unique souvenir. I stubled across a Zolrar machine, and got a fortune. I was so surpriesed by how dated the design was. Again, I found myself feeling like I could design something better.

I wanted to create something more modern and mystical. I went with a neutral color pallete. I kept the background color a light yellow as a nod to the traditional yellow. I also, wanted to showcase the crystal ball more since it was a fortune.

The design and mock up were both created using Adobe Illustrator.
